Mel Gibson's " The Passion of The Christ " bypasses ethnic integrity as others depicting Jesus have, and why?

First, Jesus the Christ of Jewish faith, born in Bethlehem, also known as Jesus of Nazareth was not of European ancestry. In 1992, Blair Underwood served as director, executive director, co-writer and star of a dramatic film " The Second Coming ," where Jesus comes back to earth as a black man to save the rightous. Blair like Mel, funded his own movie because he too could not find funding. The depiction of a Black Jesus the Christ received several negative reviews from people who now support the viewing of the " The Passion of The Christ ." I guess some people feel a black man can steal your car but not be your Savior.

Mel Gibson's " The Passion of The Christ " bypasses ethnic integrity as others depicting Jesus have, and why?
it bothers me to kinda of cause Jesus was black and is still played by a white man but that is not the biggest error in this movie!! But color shouldn't matter but Mel said his movie was historically accurate but it is not!!!!!!!!
Reply:I liked Passion, I liked that the actors spoke in Aramaic.

But the area Jesus lived in was ethnically diverse, so it is impossible to know what he looked like. I'm not saying he was NOT black, but he could have been olive-skinned, or a dark tan like modern people of the middle east. His skin color isnt what should be important, his message of peace and love should be the most important thing
Reply:yeah, yeah, Dogma was just on comedy central, what are you the 13th apostle? I'm sticking with Jesus was either middle eastern or Jewish but not black, to this day i've never seen a black jew. Even Egyptians on the northern coast of Africa are 'Arab', They can pass for a light skinned black but thier hair is straight and they look more like an India Indian. And from Egypt you still have to cross the meditteranean to get to Jerusalem, so why would they be any darker farther away? I don't understand why geography makes you think Jesus was black.
Reply:I am sorry Jesus is not black enough for you somehow.
Reply:Yes dear it is very likely that Christ our Lord could have been black as pitch. He could have been one of the blackest Africans ever. He would still be our sweet Jesus. Mary the mother of Jesus always portrayed as a lily white trim young slender girl could have been a big fat black lady. She could have been so fat she waddled when she walked but we would still adorn her as the mother of our sweet Lord.
Reply:Well you know i don't care what people think i believe God inspired Mel Gibson to make this movie God touch alot of lives with it, it served a purpose for God way to go Mel we need alot more people like you to step out for what they believe in with God.
Reply:I guess "All people are equal, but some are more equal than others" is still in function...
Reply:I think it would be more disturbing if Jesus came back as a Muslim, and Mother Mary as a Buddhist. The idea that all religious tribes contribute to God's plan of Salvation. Christ is the universal spirit that joins us all, and is thus not limited to physical appearance or man-made category. I think that would be more intellectually challenging than race.
Reply:dude...get over it..why is it that black people are just dying for christ to be black...he was of middle eastern decent..far from a black man, and definitly not white...there are stories that mary was raped by a roman soldier with blonde hair and blue eyes...that just may validate the blue eyes thing...but either way...jesus...was not african....
Reply:Jesus was neither European, nor African (unless it was an oddity), nor Hispanic, nor Asian (in the Chinese-Jap sense.) Jesus was a Jew. He looked like a Jew. The so called ethnic integrity of the film you are referencing is no more correct then that of "The Passion of the Christ."
